IMF urges sub-Sahara Africa to prioritise debt restructuring

POLICY makers in sub-Saharan Africa have a challenge to address the region’s pressing development-spending needs, contain public debt, and mobilise tax revenues in circumstances where additional measures are generally unpopular.
This is according to the October Regional Economic Outlook by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) released yesterday. The report observed that meeting such goals had never been easy and often entailed a difficult balancing act because efforts to address one element would inevitably come at the expense of the other two.
