THE Kitwe District Farmers Cooperative Union (KDFCU) is assured of a bumper harvest despite the late start of the rainfall. KDFCU chairperson Macdonald Mweemba said farmers should shift to early maturing varieties to beat the dry spell that extended to mid December of 2021. “Farmers should plant early maturing maize seed varieties because early planting lasts until December 15, but we have time if we planted early maturing varieties,” he said in an interview.
