Swedish govt gives Zambia $1.8m for Social Cash Transfer

THE Swedish government has given Zambia US$1.8 million for the Social Cash Transfer (SCT) programme as part of efforts to support Zambia’s social protection measures. Swedish Embassy deputy head of mission Sussana Hughes said the $1.8m, which was an addition to the $13.5m which had been given to Zambia from 2016, was expected to help the Government cushion the vulnerable as it implements the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme to stabilise the economy.
