Govt exceeds revenue target by K23bn

THE Government has in the first half of this year managed to raise K64.4 billion translating to 56 per cent above the target of K41.2 billion. Tax revenue accounted for K45.2 billion, non-tax revenue is at K18.4 billion, while K753 million is from grants. Secretary to the Treasury Fredson Yamba said yesterday in a brief on the budget performance from January to July this year that as the country prepared for the 2022 National Budget, the Government would also continue to ensure that the remaining part of the 2021 budget was effectively implemented especially in revenue generation and social sector expenditure.
