NAPSA Stars has been hit with injuries ahead of the 2014 MTN-FAZ Premier League kick off on March 15.
Coach Hector Chilombo said in an interview yesterday that captain Harry Milanzi and defenders Evans Chisulo and Angel Kalunga sustained injuries during the pre-season training.
Chilombo was however hopeful that the three players will be ready for the opening tie against Konkola Blades in Chililabombwe.
“The injured players are responding well to treatment on and I am positive that before the league kicks off in March they will be ready for selection against Blades,” he said.
Chilombo, who took over from Peter Kaumba on a two-year contract expressed happiness with the players’ commitment during the pre-season training and that the team had intensified preparations ahead of the 2014 soccer season.
He said he was expecting a good performance from the pensioners to start the season on a high with the top four finish in sight.
Chilombo said he would like to guide Napsa to their first ever appearance in the CAF interclub competitions next year.
“I am happy with the performance of the players and I am confident that the players will deliver going by what I have seen in training. Our target remains the same, we have to retain the Barclays Cup and also challenge for a top finish on the log. We are targeting top four but would love to also continental football next season,” he said.
