THE Government says the country has continued to record around 7,000 deaths annually as a result of tobacco smoking and that addiction remained high, warning shisha, popular among young persons, is loaded with poisonous substances.
Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary in-charge-of technical services Kennedy Malama says tobacco smoking had escalated, with nine per cent of the total population being smokers, and statistics indicating that most engaged in the habit at the tender age of 15.
