FOLLOWING a steady rise in Coronavirus (COVID-19), Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya has reiterated his warning about a possible second wave of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), attributing the spike in the latest numbers pandemic fatigue and heightened complacency by the general public.
Dr Chilufya said the country had witnessed a steady rise in COVID-19 cases in the last one week, recording 255 new infections and one death.
He said 69 of the cases were recorded in the 24-hours to Press time, out of 4, 168 tests conducted, with Southern Province marked as the new epicentre.
“There are 120 countries around the world so far that have recorded a deadly second wave of COVID-19 and the gradual surge in cases we are witnessing, shows us that we need to remain vigilant in prevention and control of the pandemic. If we can all mask up and wash hands frequently, we can forestall the second wave,” Dr Chilufya said.
