THE Madzimawe chiefdom in Kasenengwa district has recorded more than nearly 300 cases of early marriages, teenage pregnancies and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) from January to July this year.
The chiefdom although the number represents a drop over last year’s figure of 280 at the same time, the figure might have been lower still but for the COVID-19 pandemic that led to the closure of schools.
Senior chiefdom administrator Dennis Nkhuwa said cases of teenage pregnancies and early marriages included school children aged between 13 and 20.
