STATE and council police looking for Coronavirus offenders carted away scores of boozers found crammed into a make-shift bar in Ndola’s Chifubu township late on Sunday night.
Acting on a tip-off from the public, the police officers, led by Town Clerk Wisdom Bwalya, forced their way into a building adjacent to the market. Startled revellers scrambled to try and escape, but were penned back.
Before the police was a shocking scene: the barman was a boy who gave his age as 14; no more than a few masked faces could be seen in the nose-to-nose crowd clasping beer bottles; no ventilation; no hand-washing utensils. The perfect incubator for an airborne disease.
