THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says despite authorities’ desire to have the 2021 general elections ballot papers printed locally, the Government Printers and other local firms still lack capacity to undertake the exercise.
ECZ chief electoral officer Patrick Nshindano said the Government Printers was among the three Zambian printing firms that failed to pass the technical stage of the bidding process which saw ECZ recommending Dubai-based Al Ghurair Printing Company.
Speaking when he featured on Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC’s) ‘The Sunday Interview’ programme, Mr Nshindano said local printing companies needed constant capital injections to strengthen their capacity.
