Gemfields upbeat about mining tax regime dialogue

GEMFIELDS Group which operates Kagem Emerald Mine in Zambia is hopeful the ongoing dialogue with the Zambian government on the new mine tax administration will have a positive outcome, according Mining Weekly.
Company chief executive officer Sean Gilbertson said while Kagem’s production was buoyant, market conditions for Zambian emeralds remained sluggish but that the dialogue with Government over the mining tax regime would bear fruits.
The four emerald auctions held during 2018 generated $60.3 million in revenues.
