A ‘CULTURAL Year’ between Zambia and China will next month be officially launched to celebrate 55 years of friendship between the two countries,” Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Li Jie has said.
Mr Li said the official launch would take place on April 27, in Beijing, China and Tourism and Arts Minister Charles Banda had been invited to attend the event.
Speaking during the official launch of the Zambia, China Friendship Association (ZCFA) in Lusaka on Monday, Mr Li said the celebration was an idea coined by President Edgar Lungu and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping during last year’s Forum for China Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit in Beijing.
“As the Zambia-China friendship celebrates 55 years of existence, we are enhancing our cultural and technical cooperation to further our bilateral interaction, hence the launch of 2019 as the cultural year,” Mr Li said.
