Baseless uproar over some media houses licences

WE wonder why the suspension of the broadcasting licence for Prime Television by the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) has caused such uproar.
We would love to educate sections of the population that has grossly misunderstood the action to close non-ethical abiding media was long overdue.
Quoting chief government spokesperson Dora Siliya, the IBA is mandated to regulate broadcasting media houses so that they operate within the law and adhere to the professional code of ethics.
To laymen who don’t know the consequences of irresponsible journalism, we would like them to trace the genesis of the Rwanda genocide which was ignited by the Radio Télévision Libre des Mille Collines (RTLM), a Rwandan radio station which broadcast from July 8, 1993 to July 31, 1994.
