By STEVEN ZANDE –
STATE House has said President Edgar Lungu is in the Luangwa Valley in Eastern Province for a short work vacation, contrary to statements by some politicians who are suggesting that he has travelled abroad.
Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda said Mr Lungu undertook the work vacation following State House’s recommendation to allow the President some time to rest.
“And he will be returning once he takes the short break and he is working there. We know what he is doing.
“The decision of State House is to give him as much rest as possible; he hasn’t rested. So we are trying to encourage him,” said Mr Chanda.
He said this yesterday when he featured on a Hot Fm morning live talkshow programme.
Mr Chanda said the name of the place venue for the President’s vacation had been withheld to help reduce the amount of workload he was receiving but Government would not be responding to unfounded allegations by some opposition leaders.
He said there was nothing irregular about President Lungu and the Patriotic Front (PF) to nurture friendships with business executives as long as the money was not a proceed of crime.
Mr Chanda said world over political parties built friendships with business for purposes of generating funding to support party activities and programmes.
