By SANDRA MWILA –
MIDFILDER Chisamba Lungu has parted ways with Buildcon FC and has been strongly linked with a move to Nkana.
Chisamba joined Buildcon on February 27, 2018 on a two-year contract from Turkish side Anyaspor.
However, an injury sustained in the 3-2 win over Red Arrows on May 26 this year saw him being ruled out for 10 weeks and ended up missing most of season from a fractured sheen bone.
Buildcon Chief Executive Officer Ricky Mamfunda confirmed in an interview that the club and Chisamba had parted company on mutual separation.
“Yes Chisamba has left the club. We parted company on mutual separation and as a club, we wish him the best where ever he goes. He should always uphold high levels of greatness. Chisamba is one of the best midfielders we have in Zambia,” Mamfunda said.

Chisamba has been linked with a move to Nkana, who would be playing in the CAF 2018/19 Champions League though Mamfunda could not confirm the development as he referred all queries to the Kitwe side.
Efforts to speak to the player and his manager failed by press time.
Meanwhile, Mamfunda added that Buildcon had loaned their vice-captain Ben Banh to Nkana to help them in their Champions League engagements.
“We have loaned Ben to Nkana to help them in the CAF Champions League but we shall still issue a statement on which players we shall sign,” Mamfunda said.
On the 2019 season, Mamfunda said it would be a tricky season because of the bad state of Zambian pitches in the rainy season.
The Football Association of Zambia intends to next season transition the league to start linking it to the CAF calendar with the season to kick-off January 6 to end in May before it switches to the August to May calendar.
“Truth be told the league will be challenging but it’s beyond clubs and FAZ. We need to transition to the CAF calendar and it’s now up to the sponsors of clubs to compact their stadium in the rainy season,” Mamfunda said.
He said it was high time Zambia changed the league format and because they cannot be an Island.
“It’s high time we joined the rest of the countries we can’t be an Island. The bad pitch will be one of the teething problems we shall face,” Mamfunda said.
