PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has pledged to lend his weight to the enactment of a Southern Africa Development Community Parliament and described the concept as noble.
Speaking to a delegation of Southern Africa Development Community Parliamentary Forum (SADCPF) at State House yesterday, Mr Lungu wondered why an idea that had the approval of all member states had taken so long to be implemented.
“The concept is noble and will benefit all SADC Member States and once I know where the problem is, I will personally lobby for it,” he said.
He said establishing the regional Parliamentary body was noble and progressive but was surprised that 21 years after the idea was mooted and approved, it had still to be acted upon.
