Green Party hails Mutati for acting on abuse of Govt vehicles

THE GREEN Party has commended Works and Supply Minister Felix Mutati’s initiative to clamp down on public transport aimed at reducing incidents of abuse.
Green Party President Peter Sinkamba has, however, appealed to the ministry to go a mile further and scrap policy on personal to holder cars in Government.
In a statement released yesterday, Mr Sikamba said the move by the minister is commendable, but that he should also consider scrapping policy on personal to holder cars in Government.
He said the only sustainable solution to ending the abuse of public transport in Government is to also scrap policy on personal to holder cars in Government.
“The minister’s efforts to clamp down on public transport are worth commending by all well-meaning Zambians, the honorable minister has so far done a very commendable job clamping down abuse of public transport over the weekends and after hours in Lusaka, Southern Province and now Copperbelt,”he said.
Mr Sinkamba added that the effort had exposed the extent of abuse and has achieved some modest degree of cost-saving.
