VICE-PRESIDENT Inonge Wina is expected to officiate at the first ever market sound meeting aimed at sharing ideas with the private sector on infrastructure investment and development.
Works and Supply Minister Felix Mutati said the Government has been grappling with office space and that the meeting would help bring ideas together on how the idle assets would be rehabilitated and create more spaces for workers.
Mr Mutati said the meeting would have officials from the ministries of Local Government and Housing, Infrastructure Development and the private business people in the real estate, financial investors.
He said sharing ideas with the private partners would help the Government come up with amicable solutions to address the problems of office space.
Mr Mutati was saddened to note that some ministries were renting office space when the Government had assets lying idle which could be utilised as offices.
He said renting of office spaces was straining the resources which could be channeled to other development programmes.
Mr Mutati said this when he addressed journalists in Solwezi after conducting a check on the use of government vehicles.
“This Thursday, the Vice President is expected to officiate at the first ever market sound meeting. This meeting will bring together experts and business men in the private sector. We want to see how we can share the ideas and utilise the property that is dilapidated. We have office space challenges despite us having a lot of property which is lying idle,” he said.
