BUILDCON coach Tenant Chembo says his side is failing to win matches because the players are lacking the winning mentality.
Speaking after throwing away the lead against Zanaco to draw 1-1 in a rescheduled MTN-FAZ Super League Week Five league match, Chembo said he was happy with the way the team was progressing but it would be difficult to pick maximum point if the players had no self belief.
“I think the progression of the team is ok. There are very good signs. But we had chances that could have buried the game. But just that winning mentality keeps falling off the players. They did well despite drawing at home,” Chembo said.
Buildcon has had a disappointing start the 2018 season after assembling a strong team that was expected to take the league by storm but the team has won only one match and lost three from seven matches.
Chembo said the team was looking and once they grasp the winning mentality it would be a force to reckon with.
He said Buildcon had enjoyed dominance in all the matches they had played but failed to kill off the game which has cost the team valuable points.
And Zanaco coach Mumamba Numba said he was happy to have picked a win which preserved the unbeaten run in the league so far.
He said it was important to remain unbeaten before a big match against Zesco United on Saturday as a defeat would have dampened the mood of the players.
Numba admitted that his players did not perform to expectation but was quick to add that they had no time to recover after three days of travelling from Morocco where they competed in the Confederation Cup play off against Raja Casablanca.
