FINANCE Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe has called for strict surveillance of illicit financial flows.
Ms Mwanakatwe has, meanwhile, appealed to the World Bank to consider giving grants to Zambia for handling Democratic Republic of Congo for refugee crisis as opposed to loans as the case is.
She said there was also need for accelerated reform implementation in the energy sector, particularly for activities that were targeted at scaling-up solar and other clean energy solutions.
Ms Mwanakatwe said this in her inaugural Sessions at the 2018 spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group in Washington DC.
This is according to a statement released by the ministry’s public relations Chileshe Kandeta.
Ms Mwanakatwe also addressed the World Bank Africa Group One Constituency and called for the support of the World Bank in identifying, tracking, and preventing the invasion of illicit financial flows in local financial systems.
She said World Bank Africa Group One Constituency meeting was focusing on sustainable infrastructure financing and lessons identified from the International Development Association [IDA] 17 implementation period.
