THE Ndola Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NDCCI) have implored the local authority to reclaim its former position as a commercial city and investment hub of the country.
NDCCI publicity secretary Paul Chisunka said Ndola City should be made an investment hub due to its centrality.
Mr Chisunka said in an interview that some industries in the district since privatization, had remained defunct hence the need for interested investors to invest in Ndola.
He said there was need for Ndola to regain its position as the industrial hub for the country through increased investment in different sectors of the economy.
“The economy of Ndola is now picking up, very soon the district will have an international airport that will boost the economy further. With the airport, investors will have easy access to any market in the world as it will offer direct flights,” he said.
Mr Chisunka said a multi-sector delegation from Finland recently visited the district to share knowledge with the local business community.
He said the delegation consisted of business executives from the agriculture, mining, tourism and manufacturing sectors.
The chamber was working on creating partnerships with some
Finland business executive as well as identifying investment opportunities in the district.
Mr Chisunka said increased investment in different sectors would spar economic growth as well as create jobs for the locals.
