By KASONDE KASONDE –
PAMBASHE Member of Parliament Ronald Chitotela has called on politicians who have left the Patriotic Front (PF) to sober up and rejoin the ruling party.
And Senior Chief Mushota of the Chishinga-speaking people of Kawambwa District has condemned politicians dishing out money in his chiefdom to de-campaign President Edgar Lungu.
Mr Chitotela, who is Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Development, said that some politicians had lost track but were welcome into the party.
The minister said politicians were exercising their democratic right. However, they should realise that time for campaigns had not yet come as the people had elected the PF.
Mr Chitotela said that concerns of the traditional leaders should be respected and people should be aware that there could only be one president at a time.
“President Lungu is still popular and a preferred candidate for 2021,” Mr Chitotela said. “Those who have left the party due to frustrations should rethink their decisions and come back.”
Mr Chitotela said politics of hate speech should not be entertained as Zambians were only interested in politicians that offered solutions to challenges.
He said politicians should overlook their personal gains and focus on issues that would help develop the country instead of politicking all the time.
Chief Mushota said time for campaigns was over and it was time to work with the elected President Lungu in fostering development.
He said politicians should not just politick but offer people leadership.
Chief Mushota said this when Mr Chitotela paid a courtesy call on him at his palace on Saturday.
