ZANACO coach Mumamba Numba says the team will not go to sleep just because of the 3-0 advantage from the first leg when they take on Gambia Armed Forces in the return leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round return match.
In an interview from Gambia, Numba expressed happiness that the team had settled well, describing the hot weather as good for training.
He said Zanaco will play for a win despite carrying a huge advantage because GAF was not a weak side that can be underrated.
“We have settled well, the weather is good and our trainings have been going on well. We are training from the barracks. We are not looking at our past victory over our opponents but looking at the game on Saturday which we need to win for us to go to the next round,” Numba said.
He said the team is ready and was looking forward to the game tomorrow knowing a first round berth is on the verge.
“We are playing a very good side which should not be underrated at all cost. Otherwise, we are ready for them. We are here to fight hard so that we progress to the next round,” he said.
Meanwhile Zesco United will face Ivory Coast giants ASEC Mimosas in the first round of the CAF Champions League.
Mimosas were 4-3 winner against Buffaloes to set up a date with Zesco, who beat Jeshi l Kujenga Uchumi 7-0 on aggregate.
Zesco and Mimosas last met at the group stage of the champions League in 2016 and Zesco forced a 1-1 draw in Ivory Coast before winning 3-1 in Ndola.
The first leg of the first round will see Zesco host ASEC in a mid-week clash of 6th and 7th March.
And Zesco’s four-goal hero in the annihilation of JKU, Zikiru Adamssays his target is to be the top-scorer both in the Champions league and the FAZ Super Division.
He expressed happiness at scoring four goals on his debut but that he still needed to work extra hard to attain his goals.
“I want to be top scorer but I can’t say much. I want to continue working and praying. I every game I play, I want to make my fans happy because people travel to come watch me. I can’t promise how many goals, I don’t promise, I just have to work hard,” Adams said.
