PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Secretary General Davies Mwila has reiterated President Edgar Lungu’s commitment to meeting the grassroots in order to have first hand information about the challenges that the people across the country are facing.
Mr Mwila said during the launch of 2018 Eastern Province party mobilisation in Sinda on Saturday that President Lungu has embarked on a national tour of provinces and districts to hear and see the challenges which the ordinary people were going through.
He said the Head of State had decided that this year he would mostly be within the Country with a few trips that he would make outside the country.
He said Mr Lungu as party leader he was going round the country to interact with party officials.
Mr Mwila commended President Lungu and the Central Committee of the PF for giving 120 bicycles to each constituency for party mobilisation.
He said the provincial leadership had been given three vehicles for mobilisation and promised to secure 19 motorbikes for district officials in a quest to address the challenge of transport which the party structures had complained about.
“Colleagues, our duty as secretariat is to give you the tools, to give you transport so that you don’t give any excuses. In 2020 we are going to the general conference, so we must be ready for elections,” Mr Mwila said.
“On behalf of the Central Committee, I want to thank the party leadership in the province for the support that they have continued to render to President Lungu and the entire Central Committee,” he said.
Speaking earlier, PF Eastern Province Chairperson, Andrew Lubusha informed the Secretary General that the party in the province had resolved to support the candidature of President Lungu in the 2021 general elections.
Mr Lubusha said that President Lungu had demonstrated excellent leadership going by the unprecedented development projects that the PF had embarked on not only in the province but the country as a whole.
He said President Lungu had demonstrated courage, humility and patriotism in the manner that he had carried himself from the time he first won the presidency in 2015 and that as such it was only proper and befitting that he be given another mandate for him to complete all the projects and take the country to a higher level.
