TOURISM and Arts Minister Charles Banda has warned that council officials undermining the Government by their inertia, risk being dismissed from work.
Speaking at the launch of 2018 party mobilisation in Eastern Province held at Chassa Secondary School in Sinda on Saturday, Mr Banda said the Government would get rid all council officials trying to undermine its efforts.
He said a number of developmental projects had stalled due to inertia on the part of local authority officials who were supposed to be overseeing such work.
Mr Banda directed council chairpersons in the province and Chipata Mayor Sinoya Mwale to ensure that the message was delivered to all the local authorities in Eastern Province.
“Please, council chairpersons and the mayor take this message and deliver to whoever because President Edgar Lungu wants development. We need to point at what we have done and whenever the President visits a particular constituency, we should point out that we have done this and that,” he said.
Mr Banda said it was unfortunate that straightforward guidelines related to Constituency Development Funds were being complicated by council officials.
