He said Zambia has a good team capable of going all the way to thefinal but admitted that will only come with team’s continued hard work.
“The mental strength is there. Every individual in the team wantsachieve something. They want to be part of history. You know we havenever won the title before so I think this is the time God hasprepared for us to make our country proud,” Malama said.
“We just have to keep working hard, we need to keep improving as ateam. It is always going to be difficult. As you know, we have a goodteam but we have to keep pushing,” Malama said.
He said the mental strength shown by the team in the 1-1 draw againstNamibia in the teams’ last Group-B match was an indication that theteam can go all the way to the final.
He said despite playing poorly, the team managed to pick a point andfinished on top of the group which was the target.
And captain Ziyo Tembo says the team will raise the tempo in the quarter-final against Sudan.
He admitted the team played poorly but it will not be the same in the gameagainst Sudan.
“We were not mobile enough against Namibia. We allowed a silly goal, I cancall it a silly goal because they never worked for it. We just have toraise the tempo against Sudan, they are a good side but we have toface them with the right attitude and mentality,” Tembo said.
