THE drama at the demoted FAZ Division One side City of Lusaka continues to unfold with the two parallel executive committees recruiting separate technical benches ahead of the 2018 season.
On Monday, City of Lusaka 2000 Plc led by Simataa Simataa appointed George Kapembwa as new coach.
Kapembwa, the former National Assembly coach will be deputised by Gerald Sakala and Boyd Mulwanda.
Interestingly, the other group led by Justin Zulu last week also appointed Francis Majaka as their new coach after the departure of Italian Roberto Landi.
Majaka, the former City of Lusaka midfielder will be deputised by Charles Kafula and has been tasked to help the team bounce back to the elite league.
Simataa said in an interview yesterday that the Kapembwa led technical bench had been mandated to build a team that can compete in the Super Division.
He said the technical bench was currently conducting trials at Woodlands stadium to form a strong team for the season.
“We are conducting trails for a week and the coaches have been tasked to build a team. The number of players we are recruiting will be decided by the coach,” Simataa said.
Simataa maintained that his committee was only legitimate City of Lusaka.
“The is no other faction and the team is under City of Lusaka 2000 Plc and we have given a notice warning against those using the club name. If people decide to transact with other people other than us, that’s their fault,” Simataa said.
But the other group executive committee Secretary Christopher Chilongo declined to comment on the other faction recruiting a new coach.
