THE Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) has cautioned members of the public to be wary of unregistered health learning institutions as schools open.
HPCZ public relations officer Terry Musonda said parents and guardians should not be enticed by unapproved institutions offering health related programmes.
Mr Musonda said members of the public should ensure they verify and cross check which institutions were approved by the council before they take their children there.
He said the council had records of students and institutions that were approved and that parents and would be students would save their resources and time by visiting the council to verify.
“We want to emphasis that this is the season when schools are opening and parents, guardians and would be students are would winked and enticed by unapproved training institutions to start pursuing various health related programmes. I think the starting point is to verify and cross check with the council whether particular training institutions are approved,” he said.
Mr Musonda said members of the public should not be vulnerable but be alert and report any institutions that were not approved.
He said the council had a team of inspectors who conduct inspections and would not hesitate to clump down on institutions not approved.
“To avoid wasting time and resources I think members of the public should not allow themselves to be vulnerable, do not rush children into schools that are not approved. Verify with us and give your children a bright future,” he said.
