DEMOTED ‘Mighty’ Mufulira Wanderers have received a shot in the arm following the donation of 22 mattresses from a supporter for the clubs newly-built camp house.
The donation to the nine-time league champions was made by Professor Gibson Mwewa.
“I had a sense of urgency to give to the team because sports matters to us as Zambians. That is why I donated to the team because football is a unifying sport. All well-meaning Zambians cannot hesitate to help in the development of the club,” Professor Mwewa said during a hand over ceremony held at Mopani Copper Mines PLC Central Offices in Kitwe yesterday.
Wanderers chairperson Mike Milupi said works were almost complete on the team’s camp house.
“The beautiful son of Mufulira is donating mattresses to Mufulira Wanderers Football Club. We have not had a camp house for the last 15 years and now the money we have been spending on lodges and hotels has been reduced,” Milupi said.
“The camp house is 90 per cent done. We have beefed up the coaching bench because we want to bounce back to the top flight, so Allan Kamwanga has been roped in. We are also looking for a fitness coach”.
Mighty were demoted at the end of the 2017 season after three seasons in the MTN/FAZ Super Division.
