A 14-year-old Congolese teenager of Chiengi District in Luapula Province has been murdered after an attempted rape.
Luapula Province Police Commissioner Hudson Namachila identified the deceased as Ireen Zozo of Kabembo Village in Senior Chief Puta’s area.
Mr Namachila said the incident happened on Monday January 1, 2018 around 02:00 hours.
He named the suspects as Jackson Chishimba and another one only identified as Katasha and that one of the two has been arrested while the other was on the run.
“We managed to apprehend one suspect while the other is still at large,” he said.
Mr Namachila said that a docket had been opened and that police had launched a man haunt.
He said that postmortem was conducted and the body has since been buried.
And in another development a five year old boy of Chilonga Village in Mwense district has died after being hit by a peace soilder bus.
The commissioner said the bus of reg number ASB 1348 was being driven by Derrick Mukuka aged 40 of messagers compound in Kawambwa District.
He said that the driver was driving from South to North and the process hit a pedestrian who wanted to cross the road.
Mr Namachila added that due to impact the pedestrian suffered servere head injuries and died on a spot.
He said that the bus and driver are currently under custody and the body has since been buried.
