FORMER Zambia national soccer team head coach George Lwandamina’s son
Mofya, has allegedly committed suicide in Lusaka after attempting to murder a 25-year-old woman.
Mofya, 28, of Water Works area in Libala Township, acting with Keith Chemu, 16, also of the same area allegedly tied, beat and raped the victim who sustained multiple cuts on the neck and chest.
Police spokesperson Esther Katongo said the attack on the victim occurred on Friday last week at 14:00 hours and that the assailants also stole K400 and a Samsung phone, belongings of the victim.
Ms Katongo said Mofya committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance, while Keith was in police custody.
She said the victim was undergoing treatment at the University Teaching Hospitals (UTH) in Lusaka.
Meanwhile, Mr Lwandamina, who is currently Young Africans (Yanga) trainer in Tanzania, confirmed in a brief interview that Mofya was his son.
And National Assembly coach Oswald Mutapa Jr said in a separate interview that Mofya was until his death training with the recently elevated FAZ/MTN Super league side.
