THE Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of Australia says the enormous experience, positive efforts and professionalism exhibited by outgoing Zambia’s High Commissioner to Australia George Zulu have strengthened Zambia-Australia relations.
Chief of Protocol Lyndall Sachs said President Edgar Lungu appointed an excellent representative to Australia, who acquitted himself professionally and was a pleasant addition to the diplomatic corps.
Ms Sachs said this during the farewell courtesy call at the office of the Chief of Protocol at DFAT yesterday.
She said Mr Zulu ensured that a number of mining companies from Australia continued investing in Zambia, while scholarships for Zambian students to study in Australia had steadily increased.
Ms Sachs thanked the outgoing envoy and the Zambian Government for the positive outlook in strengthening the excellent bilateral relations that existed
between Zambia and Australia.
She said the good conduct of High Commissioner Zulu made collaboration between DFAT and other Australian government departments easier.
In his response, High Commissioner Zulu said he would be going back to Zambia a proud man, having worked well with the Australian government in furthering the warm and cordial relations that existed between the two countries.
Mr Zulu said he was positive that God remained his pillar to guide him in his future endeavours in saving his country, Zambia.
He thanked DFAT for the good cooperation and consideration on various issues of mutual interest for the benefit of both countries and peoples.
This is according to a statement issued yesterday by first secretary for Press at the Zambia High Commission in Australia Alick Banda.
