ZAMBIA’s Indeni volleyball team yesterday recorded their first win at the ongoing Confederations of African Volleyball (CAVB) Zone-VI senior club championship after beating Zimbabwe’s Spartans 3-0.
The Ndola-based team has had not had a good start in the competition,having lost two games with the first at the hands of defending champions Botswana Defence Force (BDF )VI before losing 3-2 to South Africa’s University of Johannesburg.
The Oil company sponsored boys came back in the competition in their third game by beating the hosts team Spartan in a one sided affair.
In the match played at the Trade Fair grounds, Indeni commanded the game from the start and swept aside their opponents in straight sets though the first set was a tough encounter.
Indeni ended up winning 25-22,25-17, 25-18.
In other matches, the Zambia National Service (ZNS )outfit Green Eagles suffered a setback when they went down by 3-0 to Police VI of Botswana with set scores of 25-19, 25-19, 25-16.
