YOUNGFENG Mining Investments Zambia Limited is expected to commence exploration of Gold in Mwanya chiefdom in Lundazi District in the first quarter of 2018.
Company Country Director Thomas Mushibwe said part of the machinery to undertake the project of Gold exploration have since arrived in the Country.
He said the machinery which has arrived in the Country would assist the company undertake the project in the exploration of Gold in the area.
“Some pieces of machinery have arrived in Mwanya for the exploration of Gold. The area has Gold deposits and we shall start the actual works of Gold exploration probably by February 2018,”he said.
Mr Mushibwe said the successful story of Gold mining in Mwanya would have the capacity to create opportunities for increasing the stock of needed skills and expertise.
He said once the Gold was discovered during exploration works, the company had plans of constructing a clinic, upgrade Mwanya primary School into a High school and build a chief’s palace.
Mr Mushibwe said mining was key in the economic development of the Country with the sector contributing to jobs creation as well as to Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
