POLICE in Mansa have apprehended a pastor of the Pentecostal Holiness Church for cutting off the arm of a man he suspected was having an affair with his wife.
The assailant, identified as Pastor Kelvin Ilunga, 56, of Chikoyo Village in
Chief Mulala’s area is alleged to have cut off the left arm of a man only identified only as Lawrence on Tuesday.
Police have confirmed the incident.
It is alleged that Ilunga followed Lawrence to the bush where he was cultivating and hit him with an axe.
Anglican Diocese gender coordinator Richard Mushimba said the pastor’s action was prompted by rumours that his wife was having an affair with Lawrence.
Mr Mushimba said Ilunga did not have any proof for his allegation, but decided to take the law in his own hands.
Mr Mushimba said Lawrence was picked up by an eye witness who rushed him to Mansa General Hospital.
He said the pastor was in police custody.
And a 40-year-old man of Shishibeti village in Mulala area in Mansa has been detained by police for inserting a stick in his wife’s private parts.
Mr Mushimba said the man, known as John Lumps, allegedly battered his wife on grounds that she was having an affair after finding tyre marks at his home.
He said the woman was admitted to Mansa General Hospital while the man remained in police custody.
