SEWE Sports players have been promised US$1,000 each should they beat Nkana and qualify for the CAF 2014 Confederation Cup semi finals when the two sides clash in a Group B decider in the Ivorian capital of Abidjan tomorrow.
The winner of this particular tie, to be beamed live on SuperSport from the Stade Augustine Denise at 17:00 hours, will be guaranteed a slot in the semi finals of the competition along with the winner of the Al Ahly versus Etoile du Sahel match tonight.
Media reports in Ivory Coast in Abidjan have disclosed that, when addressing players, Sewe Sport club president Eugene Diomande has promised to give a US$ 1,000 each to the players to beat Nkana.
But Nkana treasurer Alex Munasha, who is part of the delegation in Ivory Coast, claims that the amount Sewe Sports is dangling for its players cannot match what the Kitwe side will get if they
emerge victorious.
Munasha said in an interview yesterday from Abidjan that Nkana players have been motivated by a much higher offer and that the news in the Sewe camp would not daunt their resolve to deliver a positive result.
“Our players will not be moved by the US$1,000 being offered to their opponents for a win because they know that what we have put for them on the table is higher than that. Giving proper incentives for the players has been our trend but we don’t just announce.
Before we left for this game, we had a discussion with the players on the importance of this game and they’re focusing on winning the game,” he said.
Egyptian giants Al Ahly are leading charge in group with eight points and they square up against bottom placed Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia, who have five points while Nkana are second on seven points, one better than Sewe.
Munasha expressed happiness with the reception that Nkana have been accorded in Ivory Coast, saying the Zambian champions had no complaints.
“We are delighted with the reception we received here, our counterparts have been good to us and I don’t think there could be anything external that can affect the team’s preparations for the
game. The weather here is warm and humid but the players are acclimatising” Munasha said.
Nkana will this morning have a feel of the National Stadium, where the match will be played on Sunday.
Meanwhile, SuperSport marketing manager southern region, Marlon Kananda announced that the match will be live on SuperSport Channel 9 and Select 1 on GoTv.
