CONSTRUCTION works on Chilimbulu Road have resumed with the contractor clearing off the debris to pave way for the expansion of the road.
Chilimbulu Road is being extended from Kamwala shopping area to Chilenje Township.
The contractor has from last week been clearing debris on the road after most of the car wash dealers left the area.
Road Development Agency (RDA) head of public relations Royce Saili said Chilimbulu Road which was part of the L400 project and was being expanded to four lanes.
The L400 project includes improvement of various roads in various residential, light industrial and industrial areas of Lusaka.
Several Chilenje residents last week expressed happiness with the progress on roads being constructed in Chilenje.
The residents expressed happiness that the construction of Chilimbulu Road and the ring roads would help reduce congestion in the area.
The first phase of the ring roads starts from new Kasama and cuts across Shantumbu Road in Chilenje and joins Kafue road.
One of the residents, Mary Chabaila of Chilenje, said once the first phase of the ring road was completed, the congestion being experienced on the Chilenje route would be reduced.
She said traffic on the road leading into town from Chilenje in the morning was as a result of the area having only one main road leading into the Central Business District (CBD).
A check by the Sunday Times on the ring roads last week revealed that the first phase of the ring roads had reached an advanced stage.
The paving on the stretch from Kamwala to new Kasama had also been completed on the ring road with works on the drainages on the same stretch having been completed.
